Cronus Cattery was established in 1993. Our cattery is located in Pewaukee, Wisconsin in Waukesha County's beautiful Lake Country. We are 20 minutes west of downtown Milwaukee and about 45 minutes east of Madison. Cronus Cattery is registered both in the Cat Fancier's Association (CFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA). We show primarily in CFA and occasionally show in TICA.

Our cattery is named after the Titan Cronus of Greek mythology, one of a race of giants known for their enormous size and strength. Like it's namesake, Cronus Cattery strives to breed large, healthy Maine Coon Cats with sweet and gentle personalities. Male Maine Coons average between 12 and 16 pounds, females between 8 and 12 pounds.

Cronus is a medium sized in-home cattery. The females have the run of the house with windows overlooking large gardens and plenty of birds and squirrels to entertain them. The males have their own rooms from which they can observe chipmunks and birds at their feeders. Kittens are raised underfoot in the family room.

Kittens produced have been brown, red, silver, solid black, smoke, blue, black and white bi-color, and patched classic tabbies with and without white. Our kittens are ready to leave for their new homes at 12 weeks of age. At that time they have had 2 series of vaccinations and will need a booster at 16 weeks. All breeding cats are screened annually for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and at this time show no evidence of HCM. Screening is done via echocardiogram performed by Dr. Hattie Bortnowski DVM, Diplomate ACVIM. The next screening is scheduled for October 18, 2002.

Disclaimer: Screening for HCM is currently the recommended method to aid in reducing the incidence of this genetic condition in our cats. Breeders can not guarantee that their cats will not have this condition. However, Cronus can guarantee that we are dedicated to screening our breeding stock in a continued effort to produce healthy and sound Maine Coons to the best of our ability.
